The short version
Guitar Chord Assistant has no accounts, no sign-in, and no forms. You never type anything into this site except chord names, so there is nothing personal for us to store — and we don't store it. Everything you do here happens in your own browser.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing that identifies you. We do not ask for your name, email address, or location, and we run no server that could receive them. The chords you tap, the voicings you open, and the settings you change are held in your browser for the length of your visit and are never sent anywhere.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages get used. It records things like the page you opened, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and how long you stayed. It does this with cookies and similar identifiers. We only ever look at these numbers in aggregate — we cannot tell who any individual visitor is, and we don't try to.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit with Google's browser add-on.
Advertising
This site plans to carry advertising served by Google AdSense. Once it is running, the following applies:
- Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may serve ads on this site and use their own cookies to do so. We do not control those cookies and cannot see what they contain.
Cookies you can clear
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and, later, Google AdSense. None of them are required for the site to work — if you block or delete them, every chord, diagram, and tool still functions exactly the same. Your browser's settings let you refuse cookies entirely or delete the ones already stored.
Children
This site is a reference tool for guitarists and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Advertising is not running yet, so the section above describes what will apply once it starts.
